STORM: Extra highway gangs drafted by West Sussex County Council to clear up damage

Extra highway gangs have been drafted in to help clear up storm damage in West Sussex this morning (Monday October 28).

More than 80 trees came down either blocking or partially blocking some roads.

West Sussex County Council’s household waste recycling stations are all open as usual and ready to help people clearing up any debris such as branches.

The county council has thanked the public for listening to and acting on the various warnings that were issued. There have been no reports of injuries.

Although the worst of the weather has passed gusts of 30-45mph are expected over the coming days with persistent rain predicted for Thursday.

People are still advised to take care on the roads and when on exposed areas such as seafronts.

The council is also regularly updating its severe weather and incident pages.
