Tasty treats prove a big fundraiser

Young cooks at a North Bersted pre-school have beaten the credit crunch with Pudsey Bear biscuits.

The junior chefs at Happy Time Pre-School baked about 120 of the treats as well as about 100 fairy cakes to raise money for Children in Need.

The result of their culinary efforts was about 100 raised for the charity.

Each day last week saw 26 of the two- to five-year-olds get stuck into the flour and sugar to create the cake and biscuit mix.

Pre-school owner Gayle Hamblin said: "The children were going home with powdery faces and with flour on their uniforms. They really had fun and their parents were keen to buy the biscuits and cakes."

A raffle and a Pudsey Bear contest also helped to raise the cash.
