The weather stayed fine for the event, which saw visitors enjoy tea and cake in return for a small donation towards the care of the thousands of pets looked after by the charity each year.

Maria Marmo, Blue Cross centre manager at Northiam, said: “Last year, Blue Cross found new homes for over 8,000 pets and treated over 30,000 poorly animals, but there are still many more animals in need. As Blue Cross doesn’t receive any government funding, events like the tea party are a really important way of raising money.”
