TK Maxx welcomed to town

A NEW megastore heading to 1066 Country has been welcomed as 'really positive news'.

TK Maxx will open its new shop in the old MFI warehouse in the Bexhill Road Retail Park, St Leonards, in September, not the Ravenside shopping centre in Glyne Gap as first suggested.

The 16,000 sq ft store will create 55 new jobs and offer gifts, homeware and toys as well as men and women's fashion.

Sean Dennis, business services manager of Ten Sixty Six Enterprise, said: "The fact that a national brand name like TK Maxx is investing in Hastings, bringing this flagship commercial space back into active use and creating jobs is really positive news,

"Retail has really suffered during the recession and although we are starting to see some positive statistics this is a big boost. We are especially pleased it is being built outside the main shopping area and the store will hopefully benefit this part of town that doesn't normally benefit from the impact of big retail projects."
