Police closed the A27 westbound for several hours near Worthing last night (November 16) at the junction of the A280 at Clapham after floods and a collision.

Pictures and video of the scene showed major flooding on the road, and police sealed off the westbound carriageway to traffic.

“Traffic is currently being diverted via the exit and entry slip road.

“Please allow extra time if travelling in the area.”

At 9.45pm, National Highways said: “The #A27 westbound is now OPEN within the #A280 junction near #Worthing following an earlier collision.

“Thank you for your patience. Have a safe onward journey.”
