Disruption to and from Littlehampton station is 'expected until midday' due to an earlier points failure, Southern Railway has reported.

Southern were advised of the failure at around 6am this (Wednesday) morning.

The railway service said the points failure at Littlehampton had been rectified, but trains and crew will not be in the correct positions to begin duties. Service alteration can still be expected throughout the morning, with the disruption expected to last until midday Southern added.

Services that usually run between Littlehampton and Bognor Regis have been cancelled.

Services that usually run between London Victoria and Littlehampton with start and terminate at Barnham.

Services that usually run between Littlehampton and Portsmouth/Southampton will start and terminate at Bognor Regis.

And services that usually run between Brighton and Littlehampton will start and terminate at West Worthing.

Passengers can use their tickets at no extra cost on the following bus routes:

- Stagecoach Buses route 700 across the whole route

- Brighton & Hove Buses between Brighton and Hove

Southern and Thameslink have both requested replacement buses, but Southern’s suppliers have not been able to source anyone to make the runs.

However, Southern said they will continue to work with their supplier to hopefully source some replacement vehicles.
