Pensioner in hospital after motorbike collision in Horsham

A pensioner is in hospital with head injuries after he was struck by a motorbike in Horsham on Friday evening (July 4) according to Sussex Police.

The 67-year-old man was crossing St Leonards Road after 6pm close to the junction of Comptons Lane when the accident occurred.

The road was closed between Dickins Way and Comptons Lane while officers investigated and the scene was cleared.

Both South East Coast Ambulance Service and Sussex Air Ambulance were called to the scene and the man was taken to Sussex Royal County Hospital in Brighton with head and foot injuries.

A spokesperson for Sussex Police said: “We were contacted at 6.25pm on Friday (4 July) after a motorcycle and a pedestrian collided in St Leonards Road, Horsham.

“A 67-year-old man was crossing the road close to the junction with Comptons Lane when he was struck by the motorcycle.

“St Leonards Road was closed between Comptons Lane and Dickins Way while officers investigated and the scene was cleared.

“The pedestrian suffered injuries to his foot and head and was taken to hospital.

“The road was fully reopened at 8.30pm.
