Two men arrested after van seen ramming into gate in Burgess Hill

Two men were arrested after a white van was seen ramming into the entrance gate of a building site in Burgess Hill last night.

A statement from Sussex police said: “At half-past midnight on Friday (11 July) police were called to Brambling Way, Burgess Hill, where a white Ford Transit van had been seen ramming wooden gates at the entrance to a building site.

“When officers arrived they found the van damaged and unattended. A police dog tracked a suspect who had been hiding nearby and held the man until officers moved in to detain him. Later a second man suspected of being involved in the incident was stopped by police in Jane Murray Way, Burgess Hill, and detained.”

A 29-year-old man and a 26-year-old man, both local, have been arrested on suspicion of burglary and theft of a motor vehicle.
