UPDATE: Work on new Broadbridge Heath roundabout to start today

Work to build a new roundabout on the A264 near Broadbridge Heath is scheduled to start today (Monday June 3).

The roundabout, near Newbridge Nurseries on the A264 Five Oaks Road, is being constructed to allow a new dual carriageway to open between the A264 and the A24.

This new link road will pass through the 963 home development, dubbed ‘Wickhurst Green’, currently under construction.

Developer Countryside Properties must build the roundabout and dual carriageway as a condition of the planning permission granted by Horsham District Council.

The new roundabout will be 300 metres south of the existing roundabout which connects the A264 Five Oaks Road with the A281 Guildford Road.

The works are expected to last for three months and are being monitored by West Sussex County Council.

Pieter Montyn (Con, The Witterings), WSCC cabinet member for highways and transport, said: “This work will involve both constructing the new roundabout and widening the approaches to it.

“It will require temporary 24-hour traffic signals and reducing the carriageway to a single lane so the work can be done safely.

“We apologise for the inconvenience caused and advise motorists to allow extra time for their journeys.”

Warning notices have already been placed on the roads approaching the site.
