Vandals fail to halt family's election celebration

Stephen Shing, now re-elected as district councillor for Willingdon, discovered vandals had thrown blue paint all over the front window and side of his takeaway shop in The Triangle.

Cllr Shing said: 'Oi Lin, my wife, and I couldn't believe our eyes.

'We recently had the shop-front refurbished and this will take a lot of cleaning up.

'I don't understand why somebody would want to do this.'

Mr Shing, Oi Lin and son Daniel went on to win seats as independents in Thursday's elections to Wealden District Council.
