Views sought on road safety measures

Residents are being asked for their views on a proposed school road-safety scheme.

The Tilsmore area of Heathfield will be one of the first to benefit from the introduction of East Sussex County Council's new policy to improve road safety near schools and in residential areas by reducing traffic speeds to 20mph.

A range of ideas, including a new 20mph speed limit along Sheepsetting Lane outside the Cross-in-Hand Primary School, will be displayed at a public exhibition.

Visitors will also be asked to comment on speed-reduction measures in nearby roads, including speed cushions, gateways and Vehicle Activated Signs, which tell speeding drivers to reduce their speed.

County Council officers will be on hand to answer questions at the exhibition, which is being held in the Main Hall, at Heathfield Community Centre, Sheepsetting Lane, on Saturday, March 24, from 10am to 4pm.

Copies of the proposals will be available to view at www.eastsussex.gov.uk/haveyoursay and at the public library and Parish Council Offices in Heathfield High Street from March 26. The consultation period ends on April 27.
