PARISH CHURCH NEWS: Whatlington's Harvest Festival church service saw 29 people come to sing well known Harvest hymns and to remember both where our food comes from and how fortunate we are to have an abundance of food, when so many, both in our own country and in the wider world are so much less fortunate.

Following the service there was an excellent buffet provided from gifts of food provided by members of the congregation.

During the first hymn there was an opportunity for people to bring gifts of food to the Altar rail, by the time you read this, these will have been taken to the Seaview Project in St.Leonards, which serves those on the margins of our society.

This coming Sunday the service at Whatlington church returns to our usual 9.30am Parish Communion, looking ahead to next week we have our 10.30am Family Service as is usual on the second Sunday of the month.

GOOD COMPANIONS: Members of The Good Companions enjoyed a delicious lunch at “The Bull” in Battle last week. Many thanks to Kerri and her staff for making us so welcome. Members of the group enjoyed time together and were very reluctant to leave to go home!

The Good Companions meet again on Wednesday 26th October when they will be visiting “The Lounge” in Battle.

PARISH COUNCIL NEWS: Our local PCSO Emily has let us know that over the past couple of weeks there has been across Rother an increase in burglaries to the home and to out buildings such as garages and sheds. With the nights starting to become darker earlier there is a risk of these incidents increasing. Please remember you can report any suspicious incidents on line at www.sussex.police.uk/reportonline , this will help the Police to identify any patterns of behaviour and hopefully catch the culprits.
