Whatlington
This coming Sunday our service will be a 9.15 am Holy Communion.
Looking forward to Sunday 11th November, there will be the Whatlington Remembrance Service at 10.30 am, this non-eucharistic service will include the laying of wreaths on the village’s war memorial, which is inside the church. Remembrance is always an important service, but this year is of course the Centenary of the Armistice and so more poignant than ever. We do invite villagers and the wider community to join with us for this service.

Hide AdFILM CLUB: The contrast can hardly be greater between October and November’s movies at Whatlington Film Club.
Last month saw the screening of Phantom Thread – a thought-provoking, low-key, lovingly-shot film depicting in fine detail the life of a 1950s couturier, dressing the elegant rich and royal in 1950s London.
Fast forward a month in film club terms and (hopefully) thousands of years in movie terms, we arrive in a post-apocalyptic world where a family is forced to live in silence while hiding from monsters with ultra-sensitive hearing.
The sci-fi thriller A Quiet Place stars husband-and-wife team – both onscreen and off – John Krasinski and Emily Blunt.

This 2018 movie, set in a desolate New York City, will be shown at 8pm on Wednesday, 14 November at the Royal Oak in Whatlington.
The final film of the year – yet to be decided but likely to be more joyful than this month’s offering – will be shown on Wednesday 12 December, same time, same place.
