County Times news editor Theo Cronin, who produces and presents the event each year at the Capitol theatre, Horsham, says: “Last year’s ceremony was the best yet, recognising The Ark charity, the county’s longest serving lolli-pop lady Sylvia Welch, as well as numerous other selfless people and organisations including a first responder, environmental campaigner and a hilarious French teacher.

“As ever, it was both a fun and really emotional evening, yet thoroughly uplifting I believe for all involved.

“But, it must be said that without the support of the County Times readership who make all the nominations, the Community Awards simply wouldn’t happen.”

Theo urges everyone to think about who they know who deserves to be recognised for the good deeds they do, whether big or small.

“Just the simple act of being nominated can make such a difference to someone, let alone actually winning on the night.”

The Community Awards nomination form is available in today’s edition of the County Times (11/7/13), page 67.
