This week, the Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) published an interim report into last year’s crash, which claimed eleven lives.

The report included recommendations to the Civil Aviation Authority, which is expected to release an air show safety review in a few weeks’ time.

Although the review is expected to include changes to safety regulations, organisers of Dunsfold Wings & Wheels say they expect their 2016 event to go ahead on August 27 and 28.

A statement from the organisers said: “Following the publication of the AAIB’s Special Bulletin published yesterday, we understand that the AAIB has made a number of recommendations to the Civil Aviation Authority who regulate Air Shows in the UK.

“We understand that the CAA’s own review remains ongoing in light of the AAIB’s recommendations and we therefore now await the publication of the CAA’s review of Air Show Safety which is due to published in the coming weeks.

“Wings & Wheels has always worked closely with the CAA and other governing bodies to ensure that we comply with all of their requirements in order to secure the necessary permission to hold the Air Show.

“We therefore now await the publication of the CAA Review and remain optimistic that we will be able to obtain the necessary permissions in due course.”
