Worries over future of rail services

MP Gregory Barker has secured a meeting with the new trains minister, Tom Harris MP to express local concerns about the threat to train services calling at Etchingham, Stonegate and Wadhurst.

Mr Barker and local councillors will hold talks on proposals to reduce the popular direct Cannon Street service and cut stopping services from local stations.

The meeting date is set for Wednesday, April 25 at the Department of Transport.

The announcement follows Mr Barker's meeting with Keith Ludaman, boss of Govia Ltd., last February where plans were outlined for the future of the line.
