Sadness over closure
Further to your article in last week's Middy about Cuckfield Post Office closing, I wish to correct your sentence 'I am quite pleased for it to close'.
In fact I am deeply saddened that my shop and the post office have to close. It’s been a difficult decision that I took after many months of pursuing different ideas to make the business viable (some of which are mentioned in your article) so that the post office could stay open.
Unfortunately these ideas were not successful. I feel no pleasure having to close the post office and I completely understand that the community feels let down. I can only apologise for this.
Fortunately many of my regular customers have been very supportive during this difficult time, and I thank them for their kind words.
