Hannah Keen came sixth in the 50m freestyle at Ponds Forge, Sheffield, and was only 0.84 seconds behind champion Fran Halsall.

Determined to go one step further after narrowly missing out on the final last year, Keen clocked a blistering personal best time of 25.73 in the heats which was the sixth quickest of the field.

She maintained the same position in the semi-finals with a very similar time of 25.75 and the ultra consistent Keen - who previously retained her Sussex title and came through the south east regional round - clocked 25.80 in the final later the same day to seal a top six spot.

Keen also qualified for the 100m freestyle and 50m breaststroke events, in which she posted the 10th and 29th quickest times respectively. She was given a rousing reception on her return to Seagull training.
