Hill made the Under 16s Home Counties semi-finals - winning their division.

SEMI FINAL v OXTED

Hill started strongly. Davies scored the opener with ease putting a way an excellent pass from Chee from the right wing after her drive from deep in midfield.

Davies then scored the 2nd within 5 minutes - an individual run where she beat several players and struck with venom as she crossed the line

into the D.

Chee converted the 3rd after a great shot from Childs rebounded off the keeper’s pads for her put away.

Oxted scored to make it 1-3 just before half time against the run of play.

In the 2nd half Hill struggled with the heat and they did well to hold Oxted to a single goal keeping the win 3-2.

FINAL v SURBITON

Hill played even better in the final but were taking on a Surbiton squad with 18 players against their 12.

Surbiton scored first early despite some great saves by Prideaux and a missed chance by Davies who went close when Branagan put a great ball behind the defence.

But she converted a 2nd chance when O’Shea released an inch perfect pass to Chee who passed it onto the penalty spot.

Both Mellor and Kohli worked hard at the back to contain the Surbiton forwards and were unlucky to let in their 2nd just before half time.

After half time Surbiton confirmed their lead with their 3rd goal, but at the expense of a yellow card for a stick tackle on Badger at the back.

Hill continued to work hard and after Hill forced a penalty corner Davies’ superb strike was foiled by a great save from the Surbiton keeper.

The final score was 4-1 to Surbiton but what a great run for Burgess Hill who came out runners up from an original 50 teams from the Home Counties.

Best wishes to Charlotte Childs who was called up to play England Under 16s against Ulster and was therefore not available to play on finals day with her club team mates.

Many thanks to the parents and supporters who have travelled with the squad throughout the season.
