Clymping's lead is so slender

WITH all the summer carnivals and festivals going on, there was also an enjoyable show at Clymping's cricket ground on Saturday.

This was not any ordinary show, though. It was a masterclass in batting by Portslade's opening batsman Ian Morley, who before the game had not scored a league half-century for two years. However, it was not enough to earn Portslade the win as Clymping finished seven wickets down, despite being 89-6 at one stage.

Morley, who held the Sussex Invitation League batting record of 163 until earlier this season, smashed 157 not out from 124 balls to help his side post 295-4 from just 44 overs. No Clymping bowler was safe from Morley's attacking intent and after two overs, Portslade already had 26.
