Hill 2nds in a rush and Cuckfield’s Cumminsfamily join forces

Last month Haywards Heath 2nds had the somewhat embarrassing tag of being on the receiving end of the fastest defeat in Sussex League history.

But last weekend Burgess Hill 2nds were not that far away from handing out another record defeat.

Struggling Lewes 2nds were rushed out for 35 in the 25th over before Hill openers Paul John (18no) and Ben Hopkins (17no) took just 15 balls to wrap up victory.

Earlier there were four wickets apiece for Nick Brailey and Rob Barnes.

The Cummins trio, dad Damian and sons Tom and Luke, played together for the first time in a competitive match but ended on the losing side at Eastbourne on Sunday.

Dad Damian enjoyed himself, however, and nearly taught the younger players a thing or two with a valiant attempt to take a steepling catch.
