Loss leaves Priory in bottom two

Priory were all out for 222 after winning the toss and choosing to bat. The total was something of a collective effort with nobody reaching 50, but eight players getting into double figures.

Harry Finch, fresh off a century in the previous weekend’s win over Cuckfield, made 37 at the top of the order, 16-year-old Leo Cammish added 34 at number four and captain George Campbell top-scored with 44 on his first appearance of the season.

Further down the order, young prospect Elliot Hooper made a very useful 35 at number eight, while Freddie Hulbert and Kyle Adcock chipped in with 16 and 12 not out respectively at nine and 10. James Stedman was the pick of the Chichester bowlers with 5-45 off 16.5 overs.

Chichester’s opening pair broke the back of the run chase with Mark Bamford hitting 123 and Chris Kirkham making 54. Beck Hemingway added 28 before Priory rallied to have the visitors seven down when they eventually went past the winning post.

Mick Glazier returned the best figures with 4-37 off 14 overs, including the wicket of Bamford, and the other wickets also fell to spin with Hooper picking up 2-63 and Campbell 1-36. See Friday’s Hastings Observer for a full report and reaction.
