EP reclaim top spot

EAST PRESTON Cricket Club are back at the top of the table after they were the only Division 4 side to win on Saturday.

They did it the hard way at Broadbridge Heath, though. After falling to 162-8, chasing 180 to win, they had just one wicket left because Joel Kingsbury was at Worthing Hospital. Kingsbury was to have three stitches put into the base of his thumb after the ball had been hit back at him while he was bowling.

That meant 14-year-old Lucy Uncles, making her first-team debut, went into bat at No 10. Andy Reeves was already at the wicket and together they scored the 18 runs EP needed for victory. Uncles scored three from seven balls and Reeves ended up unbeaten on 48 after striking a six to win the game. He smashed seven fours.
