Blues are hoping to hold some interviews before the weekend and have told all the candidates they are unsure of what division they will be playing in for the 2013-14 campaign.

Rustington finished second from bottom in County League Division 2 under Ryan Morten at the helm – who has since resigned – and have been told by the Sussex County Football League they have been relegated into Division 3 as their ground falls short of the required grade for the second division.

Although, with another close season of changes to the league structuring planned, with Crowborough and Rye being told by The FA they face playing in the Kent League, things could all still change in the SCFL.

Rustington chairman Frank Sumner said: “We have had quite a few responses to our bit in the paper.

“We have been emailed telling us that we have been relegated on our ground grading, but a big meeting is planned for Saturday at Horsham YMCA on the matters arisen over Crowborough and Rye.

“It would only be a temporary thing (if Rustington are given a reprieve) as the parish council have said there is no chance of them letting us have floodlights.

“Everyone that has applied for the job has been told we do not know for certain what league we will be playing in, whether it’ll be Division 2 or 3.

“We are just waiting for one person to come back to us and as soon as they have, we’ll starting working through the interviews.”
