Brighton lost both matches to Leicester 2-0 in the Premier League last season. The Seagulls sit 12th in the table this year, three points and two places below the Foxes.

Hughton feels Claude Puel has helped develop a number of players since his arrival at Leicester in October, 2017, and said: "They're a good team, very expansive in the way they play.

"When you look at a good team, you look at the development of players. I look at (Demarai) Gray's development, I look inparticular at (Ben) Chilwell at left-back, who looks outstanding at the moment. He's really come on.

"They brought in good players and (James) Maddison without the injury is probably pushing on the international stage as well. He looks a very good player.

"They've got good players in a system that suits them and of course (Jamie) Vardy is fresher now after an international break where he would have been away.

"He comes into this game nice and fresh. If anything, that means he's a bigger threat."

Hughton added he feels the Leicester players have done the club proud with their performances following the tragic death of chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha last month.

He said: "It's been a difficult time for them as a football club and it's one we certainly respect. There's been good communications between the two clubs before Saturday's game.

"If we talk about what they've shown on the football pitch since, they are a very good footballing team.

"They're very expansive in the way they play and they can be a threat. They've got some very good players, good offensive players, so from a footballing point of view, the players have done the club proud.

"The result at Cardiff was a big result for them and it was then a good performance at home against Burnley.

"They have a lot of threats and certainly are very dangerous opponents."
