Crawley Town manager Yems hails 'fantastic' win against Morecambe
John Yems has called his side's win against Morecambe 'fantastic.'
The Shrimps were top of League Two and after a goalless first half, a second half masterclass saw the Reds cruise to a 4-0 win.
George Francomb's opener was followed up a double from Max Watters on his league debut for the Reds and a Tyler Frost goal.
And Yems was delighted but says he can't take credit for the decision to bring Watters on. He said: "It was a fantastic 4-0 win. We are still a side that's gelling together.
"I'd like to say it was a brilliant tactical decision by me to bring Max on, but it was because Nadders [Ashley Nadesan] got injured. We have got great faith in Max as he proved against Arsenal.
"That's only his second game in four months."
What did Yems say to them at half-time with the score at 0-0? "Just keep doing and believing in what we do. We do it every day in training.
"Lee works well with the strikers in training and we share the workload between us. It's all about gelling it together. When it comes off it looks good but when it doesn't it they look like gits."
Yems has a number of players challenging for the starting line-up. "It's [selection] not a headache when you go an win 4-0 on a Saturday. That's the easy part. It's the ones that are not picked that give you the headaches.
"We have now got to build on that, it's no good resting on our laurels. We've got to work harder now."
And Yems praised 21-year-old striker Watters, who has now scored three goals in two games for the Reds.
He said: "I know he's got it in him, that's why I signed him. I knew what the lad was about. He's done well with us. He's a young boy who wants to make up for lost time. He's a good kid, got a good family, his father is very supportive."
Yems also commented on the squad he is assembling at Crawley. He said: ""You are trying to build here, it's not boom and bust like it has been in the past. The fans, if they were here today, would have loved it. Everyone who turns up will be giving their all for Crawley."
