But how did the players perform? Here are Philip Richardson's player ratings from Tuesday evening.
9. Will Ferry - 9
Showed excellence at times on the left-hand side showing his dribbling ability. End product was a little lacking but he certainly grew into the first half. In the second half he showed real class tracking back and winning the ball when needed, as well as showing speed and intent going forward. With some better crosses he could’ve caused the defence a lot more issues.
10. Jack Powell - 8
Looked slightly lost in the first half playing out on the right, however when he came inside, he looked a lot better, showing incredible range of passing and the calm needed to get the Reds’ out of trouble. He linked up especially well with George Francomb often using quick passing to break out of the defensive areas and some great weight of pass to link attacks together.
11. Tyler Frost - 8
Was slow to get in the game but showed his quality running in behind. Showed his excellence early on as he ran in from the left and skilfully dribbled past 3 defenders before his fierce shot hit his own man. Once again, his end product let him down as he timed his late run to perfection before his shot was fired over. In the second half he continued to cause trouble, his pace and footwork looks to be a menace to League Two defenders this year
12. Ashley Nadesan - 9.5
The star man, his running in behind was a constant thorn in Salford’s defence looking to show off his impressive pace. The was shown on many occasions as his well-timed run was found by Francomb and he calmly placed a shot past the Salford Keeper. He did well again beat his man before setting back for Frost who should’ve done better with his shot. In the second half he continued and his running in behind caused so many issues. When he moved out on the right, he still caused issues as well as showing a willingness to track back and win the ball consistently.
