They are away on international duty while captain Josh Simpson and Bobson Bawling will also be unavailable through injury.

The game could see starts for Sonny Bradley in central defence and Lewis Young on the left wing while striker Matt Harrold could also feature having made his first start since joining the Reds during Tuesday night’s 2-0 victory against Cambridge United in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.

Gregory praised Rochdale’s manager Keith Hill for masterminding two promotions.

He said: “Some clubs and managers seem to fit and it’s like that for Keith Hill and Rochdale.

“He’s got them promoted twice and they have a very good squad.

“It’s a game we are looking forward to although we know it will be as tough a 90 minutes we’ve had this season.”

Rochdale have earned four points from five games in the league so far but go into the game on the back of a 3-0 victory against Crewe on Tuesday night in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.

They could feature young striker Shamir Fenelon who is on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion and grew up in Crawley.
