Phil Johnson has joined the Club from neighbours Hassocks after training with the Hillians over the last few weeks where he impressed manager Ian Chapman and he decided to sign after Saturday’s friendly with Loxwood where he hit two goals.

Johnson won Players, Supporters and 1st Team player of the Year at the Beacon last season as he hit 26 goals in 39 games and Chapman said “Phil is a natural goalscorer and I’m really pleased he has come on board. We now have a number of options going forward.”

Johnson follows the arrivals of Tommy Fraser, Josh Jones and Chris Smith and the manager was also delighted to confirm that skipper Darren Budd, player/assistant Stuart Tuck, Josh James, Joe Keehan, Scott Kirkwood and player of the year Andy Pearson will all be at the Green Elephants Stadium for the coming season.

The Hillians boss also confirmed an addition to his coaching staff with Ross Standen joining the Club as a coach.

Chapman said: “I’ve known Ross a long time and I trust and respect his opinion and he has vast experience of the Ryman Premier League. His job at the Club will be to assist Paul Dollner and coach the 1st and Under 21’s. He will also watch our opposition at times too.”
