The new 3G pitch, which also has floodlights, is now open and is ready to use by the club and the community.

Saunders feels that the club can now train regardless of any bad weather, which will undoubtedly aid the club this season and beyond.

The first team manager said: “We are actually on it tomorrow night and regardless of the weather we know we are going to train.

“Whereas two weeks ago we was cancelling training because the pitch was too heavy to get on and texting round on the day to say that it was cancelled.”

The ex-Peacehaven boss admitted that he is excited about having a facility of this standard at the Division One club.

He said: “I came from Peacehaven prior and training was always a problem for us.

“I mean most weeks training was cancelled because we could not get on the pitch and you could not get a 3G anywhere so yeah this is massive.”

Saunders insisted that the community will also benefit from the new 3G pitch.

He added: “It is open to all, it is not just purely for the use of the football club.

“We are now talking about getting the youth involved and setting up an academy and all sorts so yeah it will have a massive impact on the local community.”
