Home win pleases Suter

LITTLEHAMPTON Football Club manager John Suter was pleased with his side’s 3-2 home win over Loxwood in County League Division 2 and called the performance “hard working and committed”.

Golds, in the midst of an injury crisis, went ahead in the fifth minute through Dave Gaskin, who untidily bundled in a Darryl Wollers cross.

After Barney Boutwood hit the bar, Loxwood pulled level on 56 minutes through Claude Pett, who half-volleyed in with Golds defender Gary Young off the pitch receiving treatment.

Nathan Peacock put Golds 2-1 up on 75 minutes, and then Boutwood doubled the lead from a free kick four minutes later.

Damon Aston made it 3-2 eight minutes from time, but despite late pressure and eight minutes of injury-time, Golds held on.

Suter said: “It was a good, hard-working, committed performance. They played the better football but we did well with a lot of players out.

“Dean Fuller kept us in the game, and there were some excellent individual performances.

“We were the better side, and when they put us under pressure late on we defended well. I’m delighted with the performance against a good side.”
