Sussex Intermediate Cup: Premier Division’s Portslade Athletic were left devastated after losing 3-­2 to Broadbridge Heath Reserves after extra time in the second round of the Sussex Intermediate Cup despite two goals from Abdulmajeed Alanazi.

Senior Charity Cup

A Callum Bellis double helped Premier Division Copthorne progress in the Senior Charity Cup with a 5-­1 victory over Ditchling. Matt Blake, Christopher Capper and Laurence Morley were also on the scoresheet while Thomas Evans grabbed a consolation for the Championship side.

Ifield Galaxy also advanced with a 3­0 victory against Division One side Wivelsfield Green Pilgrims while Buxted suffered heartache in another first round tie after they were defeated 1­-0 in extra time to Hassocks Under 21 on Wednesday evening.

Jarvis Brook regained top spot in the Premier Division with a comfortable 4­0 victory over Forest Row thanks to goals from Victor Penfold, Billy Ruse and Daniel Wright while second placed Balcombe could only manage a 1­-1 draw with Cuckfield Rangers.

Smallfield are six points behind the leaders in third position but remain unbeaten after edging a five­-goal thriller against Peaceheaven United.

Jack McLean’s stunning four goals saw Willingdon Athletic claim a 4­1 victory against East Grinstead United while Luke Beaton and Thomas Ford helped Rotherfield climb into seventh with a 2­-1 win over AFC Varndeanians II with Niall Kearney grabbing the consolation.

Championship

Dormansland Rockets continue to lead the way in the Championship after a 3­-2 victory against Barcombe while second placed AFC Haywards remain two points as Simon Bristow’s solitary strike earned them a win over AFC Ringmer.

Polegate Town endured a pulsating game before eventually overcoming Ashurst Wood 5­3 thanks to two goals from James McConnell and strikes from Joseph Green, Alexander Speirs and Mark Davis.

George Mathai, Matthew Scutter and Ben Withey scored for Ashurst while both sides ended with ten men as Town’s David Martin and Wood’s Wesley Brannigan were sent off.

Sunil Hofmann and Karel Kutaa earned Furnace Green Rovers their first league victory of the season after a 2­-1 home win against Cuckfield Town.
