Mullets saw off Southern Combination League Division 1 and league lower Down with strikes from Aaron Hooker-Meehan and Josh Biggs.

Despite being a league higher, Arundel knew they would face a tough test against the Division 1 leaders.

But fortunately for joint-bosses Craig Stuart and Barry Pidgeon, a first win in five matches came in the second round clash.

That run had seen them suffer four defeats and only managed to pick up a 2-2 draw at winless East Preston.

But this time around they managed to see off high-flying Down and will now be hoping to seal a tie with a higher-league side in the next round.

Both sides made a good start to the tie and created numerous chances. The first goal came ten minutes before the break.

Hooker-Meehan got it with a firm strike into the bottom corner.

Josh Biggs then added a second six minutes later to give his side a two-goal cushion. The second half provided no goals as Mullets progressed.

Arundel return to league action on Saturday as they host promoted AFC Uckfield on Saturday.
