Despite the start, one player who has faced a bit of criticism from fans is keeper Corey Addai. The 25-year-old joined Crawley last season from Danish side Esbjerg fB and immediately established himself as the Red’s starting goalkeeper.

The keeper made some vital saves towards the end of last season which helped the Reds avoid relegation. And this season he has made some errors but has also pulled off some brilliant – and vital saves. None were more vital than the one at Grimsby Town in the dying moments to ensure they picked up[ their first away win of the season.

And against Sutton United in the 3-0 win, Addai pulled off a couple of great saves as Scott Lindsey’s men kept only their second clean sheet of the season.

Lindsey has kept his trust in Addai and thinks some of the criticism aimed at Addai is unjust: “I don’t understand why he has been coming under criticism. Personally, I think that’s unfair. I think he’s been outstanding in all games.

A lot of the criticism came in the ground and on social media after conceding two goals early on against Grimsby Town.

“(Grimsby) was probably his poorest performance, and he would probably be the first to admit that.”

However, despite the mistakes made and criticism received during that tough away fixture at Blundell Park, Addai denied Grimsby an equaliser in the 90+6’ to ensure Crawley Town came home with all three points.

Red’s boss Lindsey had one request for the fans, to help the team in future: “Please stop because it’s not helping at all. These players need support, not stick. If anyone’s going to give them stick let me do it.”
