The former Wick boss has cited increased work and family commitments for his decision to leave the County League Division 3 club.

Williamson led Clymping to an eighth-placed finish this season, but has admitted it has been tough attracting players to the club at times, owing to the volume of sides in the Arun area.

He said: “It’s a lovely club and it is just a shame it is stuck right bang in the middle of Littlehampton, Arundel and East Preston.

“There are what, about eight County League clubs in a five-mile radius or so? Trying to get players over there with no payment or anything like that has been pretty difficult.

“At this moment in time I am really busy in work and my son is on the verge of joining somewhere that will also take up a lot of my time as well, although nothing is concrete yet.

“Trying to run a side without any real help on the management side was just taking up too much of my time.”

Williamson heaped praise on Clymping’s behind-the-scenes duo of committee members, Kay and Gavin Weller.

He added: “Gavin and Kay are top people and they put their own money, time and enthusiasm into everything going on over there, which is testament to how there are two teams running.

“If I was going to get back into football I would need a new challenge and a lot more chance of some back-up, as there is only so much Gavin and Kay can do on their own.”

The club wished to thank Williamson for his two-year spell in charge.
