Win would put Hastings third

Three points at home to Faversham Town would move United above Guernsey and Folkestone Invicta into the second Ryman Football League Division One South play-off spot.

United should go into the match with confidence restored following their 4-0 victory over Worthing on Saturday. Trevor McCreadie scored a hat-trick in United’s biggest home league victory of the season, which ended a run of just two wins in seven games.

The bad news, though, was that they picked up a couple more injuries with key duo Tim Olorunda and Frankie Sawyer hobbling off in the second half. Josh Jirbandey sat the game out completely with the problem which forced him off at Eastbourne Town the previous weekend.

Ninth-placed Faversham now look to be virtually out of the running for a play-off place as they trail United by 10 points. The teams met twice in the early part of the season with Faversham winning 2-0 in the reverse league fixture and United cruising a Robert Dyas Cup tie at The Pilot Field 4-0.

After tonight’s match - which will kick-off at 7.45pm - United will have just two home matches remaining, the first of which won’t be until Easter Saturday. Their next four games will all be away from home.
