The week culminated in the first of our two Atchley and Coronation Cup events on Sunday 11th May. This is a Foursomes Medal event with the Scratch competition for the Coronation Cup and the Nett competition for the Atchley Cups.

Although the weather was mainly good to us in that it did not rain, the wind blew so hard that at times you could barely stand up. The scoring seemed to match the conditions, most finding it very difficult in the wind. The winners of the Scratch competition and the Coronation Cup were Wendy Melville and Jack Martin with a gross 84. In second place with gross 85 were Dan Simpson and Jo Kernohan and in third place with gross 87 were Gerry Honeysett and Sheila Marshall.

The winners of the Nett competition and the Atchley Cups were Wendy Melville and Jack Martin with nett 74. However, as they could win more than one cup but not more than one prize, the 1st prize went to Theresa and Phil Williamson with nett 74, 2nd prize to Margaret Jones and Saun Annison with nett 76.5 on count-back from Ann Chase and Gösta Kullner with nett 76.5 who won 3rd prize.

Prize giving was in the evening, followed by a wonderful meal provided by our resident chefs. The photo shows the winners, Wendy Melville (left) and Jack Martin (right) being presented with their trophies by the Ladies’ Captain, Rosemary Parvin. Congratulations to all the winners.
