Heath talk their way to agood start and Adastraladies can take heart

Last minute phone calls to find players to cover for illnesses paid off for Haywards Heath & Beech Hurst as they opened the season with two fine home wins.

They beat Maresfield by a single shot on Saturday, thanks in no small part to a six-shot win on the 10th end played by Beryl Cordwell’s triple and a five for Maureen Spyers on the ninth end.

Heath then beat a strong Hurstpierpoint team on Sunday when Derek Ayling’s quartet poached a 23-10 lead at 14 ends before finally getting home 25-19.
