Heritage slams training apathy

SIDLEY United joint-manager Peter Heritage has questioned the appetite of some of his players ahead of the biggest game of the club's season on Saturday January 11.

United travel to Arundel in the fourth round of the RUR Charity Cup knowing that this is their sole remaining chance of silverware following a disappointing first half of the season.

Heritage bemoaned the poor turn-out at recent training sessions, saying: "There are too many crying off at the moment. The players have under-achieved this year, some of them have not been as honest as they could have been with us and we have been a bit disappointing at training recently."

Adam Day and Kevin Rose return from suspension but Heritage has a goalkeeping problem as Danny Poole may be working and John Gardner is still injured. Striker Paul Balch remains on the treatment table and Mark Funnell will be out for at least another fortnight.
