Hollis' pain at Rebels' fall

Morty Hollis spoke to the Herald of his feelings following relegation, which was sealed by the home defeat to Harrow Borough, after which he went to speak with some fans behind the goal.

He said: "It hurt being relegated and I felt it badly on the day. It's emotional at moments like that. I promised the fans I was speaking to after the final whistle that I promise to do my best to ensure I'd be at the club next season and I'd do my best to ensure we go back up next year.

"The fans are our friends. I know them all because I talk to them. That's me. During matches I walk around the ground and speak to them. They appreciate that someone from the club doing that. So after the Harrow game, I thought someone from the club should say something to them.

"It's been a diabolical year. Only 16 months ago we were top of the league. We will return to the Premier Division but it will be hard. No team will walk straight back up.

"If we stay as we are we won't get back up. Things have to change. We've got to be realistic about where we are. Things have got to be said and done. We've been patient. Perhaps there was a lack of alternatives at the time. But we said we'd carry on and concentrate on our young players instead of the mercenaries. I don't think we've done that exactly."
