Crawley Town verdict: This is a results business and in order to get results, goals need to be scored
Both games were dominated possession wise by Harry Kewell’s new look team. Some of the football being played is very pleasing on the eye. The ball very rarely gets played above head height.
Unfortunately at the moment the players either lack confidence in their ability to shoot from distance or they are trying to be over clever. What’s required at the moment is a good old laces through the ball attempt. Something which has been missing so far in these first few games.

Hide AdBoth defeats at Rovers and Vale shouldn’t have happened. Firstly a blatant Reds penalty was turned down by the referee with eight minutes to play which would of probably seen the game end all square and go to penalties. Then again on Saturday we conceded a sloppy goal from a rebound after a fabulous Glenn Morris save.
Vale then sat back for the rest of the game and invited us on to them.
We just couldn’t find the breakthrough in the second half. So two frustrating games in a week. But the good thing about football is there’s always another game just around the corner. With Swindon (Tuesday) then Bury this (Saturday) coming to town.
We have two Home games to make amends. I’m sure Harry will be working the boys extra hard in training this week to get our season up and running again. Shooting practice should be high on the agenda! #COYR
