Both the A and B squads played as teams rather than as a group of individuals and gave very strong defensive displays to thwart their local Club opponents, winning all their matches: the A team beat Heathfield, Pulborough, Hove and Horsham scoring 18 tries and conceding just 2, while the B squad equalled this success with four victories of their own against Heathfield B, Hellingly, Pulborough B and Horsham B scoring an amazing 26 tries and also conceding just 2.

The tactic of stealing opposition ball with quick rucks and aggressive counter rucks before unleashing some fast runners to take advantage of the space the forwards had opened up worked time and again for both squads, as they put into practice the skills learnt on the training fields at Whitemans Green each Sunday morning.

To the delight of the coaching team many of the young squad players are new to Heath this season, showing that Heath is a Club that welcomes children of all ages and can soon find a way to get them playing strong and effective rugby on the pitch. Heath continues to be the place in Mid Sussex for young, aspiring rugby players to learn high-tempo, mean-defensive, flowing rugby! If anyone of any age from under 6 through to under 17 is interested in playing rugby while making new friends, visit www.hhrfc.co.uk or contact the HHRFC Youth Chairman on [email protected] for more information.
