SAD LIAM OFF TARGET

County League TwoWealden 1 Peacehaven 2WEALDEN manager Andy Gander is looking to his strikers to regain their scoring touch after this home defeat on Saturday.

He said: 'We had the more clear-cut chances but Liam Bull had a bad day and missed two one-on-ones.

'Wes Tate might have taken one of them himself but is also low on confidence and passed instead of shooting.

'Liam fell over on the goalline when trying to net one of them.

'We can't afford to shoot ourselves in the foot again if we are to challenge at the top and the next three games being all at home are vital to us.

'I thought a draw might have been a fairer result as we created enough chances on a boggy pitch which was relaid in the summer and has not knitted together properly.'

Ryan Smith shot Peacehaven ahead from the penalty spot on the hour after Clive Snell had been fouled but Adam Parker equalised 13 minutes later with his first senior goal for the club.

Defender Parker had moved forward to the Peacehaven penalty area and made contact with the ball as it came in and it looped up over visiting goalkeeper Sam Harding.

Peacehaven got the winner with 13 minutes left when substitute Rocky Plaine shot home after a good build-up.

Darren Gearing made his debut after his transfer from Ringmer and Gander said he made a steady start.
