Six of the best from Sidley

SIDLEY United reached the semi-finals of the John O Hara League Challenge Cup in real style on Saturday with a thumping 6-0 win over Three Bridges.

The holders were simply unstoppable and Peter Heritage s second half hat-trick in six devastating minutes capped a very professional performance.

Paul Balch opened the scoring midway through the first half with a superb lob from 35 yards.

Owen Ball doubled the lead from close range and Balch claimed his second when he slid in between defender and goalkeeper to virtually settle the fourth round tie before half-time.

Player-manager Heritage took centre stage after the break by scoring three times with his head to make it 6-0 before the hour mark.

Sidley took their foot off the gas and Three Bridges went close to grabbing a consolation but Danny Poole pulled off a couple of fine saves.

Bexhill Town won 2-1 away to Rye & Iden United Reserves in the first round of the Hastings Intermediate Cup.
