Southwick Youth lose out in extra-time

A STUNNING volley by Arundel substitute Terry Dodd won his side the Sussex Youth Cup against Southwick last Thursday.

Dodd struck the only goal two minutes into extra-time and Mullets then had John Meeney sent off but Wickers could not force an equaliser after that.

Sam Blundell had a shot saved by Arundel keeper Jamie Clack, Jordan Saunders saw teo long-range efforts saved and, in the last minute, Clack somehow tipped over Scott Hunt's header from Saunders' corner.

Southwick manager Lloyd Saunders said: "We battered them but just didn't take our chances.

"It's a shame because we played really well and Paul Cooney was outstanding. All the boys gave everything and couldn't have done anything more than win. They are all fit lads and most of them came off at the end with cramp."

SOUTHWICK: Walsh; Timms, Bowra, Benn, Constable; J.Saunders, Hunt, Cooney, Feest, Donoghue; Reynolds. Subs: Bell (Reynolds 60), Blundell (Feest 70), Packer (Donoghue 110), Smith, Rudkin, Finney.
