Star riders try out high-tech surface

World class eventer Pippa Funnell MBE recently took part in an equestrian event with a difference at the South of England Showground, Ardingly.

Pippa, who scopped team silver at the Sydney Olympics and gold at the 2003 European championships, launched the opening of a new facility on the famous showground.

She was joined by her show jumping husband William and trotted her horse pm the latest high-tech equestrian surface inside the Abergavenny building.

The new surface Turf Float was supplied by Equestrian Direct and has been designed to replicate the natural qualities of turf and provide a secure footing allowing horses to travel across the top of the surface rather than through it.
