The town's pride are Tornado and Sizzling!

WORTHING sport is rejoicing in its new place on the national sprinting map. It's two young stars have again made their mark '” Wade Bennett-Jackson in the IAAF World Junior Championships in Beijing and Olufunmi Sobodu in the Norwich Union Grand Prix.

Tarring Tornado, Bennett-Jackson, 19, (near, right) crowned his junior career with a bronze medal running third leg in the British 4x10om relay team whose 39.24sec was 0.19sec outside the British record and placed them fifth in the all-time British list.

For fleeting seconds, too, WBJ led the 100 metres with 30metres left to run. He finished sixth in 10.45sec, behind winner, British team-mate Harry Aikenes-Aryeetey, after setting a personal-best 10.33 in winning his heat. WBJ made the final as the third qualifier, with 10.48sec, in one of the two semi-finals.
