Weald at home in some exalted company

Weald ladies 1st tennis team followed up their stunning win over The Queen’s Club with a clean sweep victory over Chandos Club, Middlesex, to go third in the South East (South ) Division of the National league.

Playing at home they claimed the massive scalp of Queen’s Club, with Claudia James and Freya Loughton recording fine victories in the singles and Loughton and Flaminia Martin winning their doubles from a set down to offset the defeat of Petra Sedova and James. That meant the match went to a tie break shootout, where James defeated visiting No 1 Phillipa Coates but Loughton lost her rematch with Anna Eberstein to leave the result hanging on the doubles tie breaker. Captain Sedova and Martin duly won that.

Last weekend the team oozed confidence as they whitewashed Chandos.
