Win puts Saxons second

South Saxons moved up to second in the table via a 3-0 win at home to Lewes III on Saturday.

Playing their first match for seven weeks as a result of the bad weather and then the festive break, Saxons had too much for a team that went into the game above them in the South Hockey League Sussex Area - Division One table.

Despite being without captain Pete Watters (illness) and Dom Ford (unavailability), goals from Jamie Busbridge, Toby Reed and Dave Draper gave Saxons an important victory.

The only downside was that Busbridge sustained a nasty facial injury which required a trip to hospital and 12 stitches after being struck by a shot from George Eldridge.
