Winkworth notches up home bred winner

Plaistow trainer Peter Winkworth has histeam in superb form at present. He has sent out seven winners from a handful of runners and had the distinction at Plumpton last week in sending out his first home-bred winner.

Dunsfold Duke is out of Rositary, a grand French bred staying mare , who herself won nine races and was placed seven times when racing in Peter's colours.

Dunsfold Duke made it four winners from just six runners for the trainer, indicating that the yard is enjoying a purple patch.

Assistant trainer Anton Pearson said: " Dunsfold Duke showed such promise in his bumper run at Sandown, but then was so badly behaved at Chepstow when sadling, banging and cutting his head. We saddled him in the stables today, but he is still a big, weak-looking individual."
